We are Abuja Solar System Dealers & Installers Association
ASSDIA is a registered trade association of solar system professionals and advocates based in Abuja, Nigeria.
We serve as the leading voice for the solar industry in Abuja and across Nigeria, embodying the innovation and entrepreneurship that define solar energy in our country.
Our association represents a diverse community of over 60 corporate and individual members spanning the entire solar supply chain.
ASSDIA is dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the interests of more than 2,000 companies operating in the solar industry, along with the over 200,000 Nigerian workers they employ directly and indirectly.
We actively support fair and open trade of solar equipment to bolster Nigeria’s solar energy sector, advocating for favorable exchange rates for the importation of solar equipment that we cannot produce locally. ASSDIA collaborates closely with the Energy Commission of Nigeria and proudly contributes to the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
Together with our members and partners, we advocate for a nationwide shift towards a clean energy economy, engaging with policymakers at the federal, state, and local government levels to drive sustainable energy solutions forward.
History of Abuja Solar System Dealers and Installers Association
Formation and Early Years
In the year 2009, a visionary group of five professional friends embarked on a mission to revolutionize the solar energy landscape. These pioneers recognized that solar energy systems were akin to “rocket science” at the time, and they understood the critical importance of collaboration in executing solar-powered projects. Thus, the seeds of the Abuja Solar System Dealers and Installers Association were sown.
The Birth of ASSDIA
The primary objective of ASSDIA during its inception was to foster a vibrant community of solar enthusiasts, practitioners, and experts. Members came together to share ideas, exchange knowledge, and disseminate fruitful information. As the association grew, it became a hub for learning, innovation, and collective progress in the field of solar energy.
A Decade of Impact
Fast forward to the association’s 10th anniversary in 2019. ASSDIA had evolved significantly, transcending its informal origins. In a momentous decision, the association formalized its structure by registering with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an incorporated Trustees. This step aligned ASSDIA with Nigerian legal norms and solidified its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Membership and Growth
At the time of incorporation, ASSDIA boasted a membership of over 60 individuals and corporate entities. These passionate stakeholders included solar system dealers, installers, engineers, researchers, and advocates. Their collective expertise spanned photovoltaics, solar thermal systems, energy storage, grid integration, and policy advocacy.
Geometric Expansion
ASSDIA’s journey was marked by exponential growth. With each passing year, the association’s influence expanded geometrically. New members joined, partnerships flourished, and collaborative projects flourished. ASSDIA became a beacon of hope for a cleaner, greener future—one powered by the inexhaustible energy of the sun.
